ATLANTA (May 28, 2026)—The FIFA World Cup is the largest sporting event in the world, featuring 48 teams with matches across North America. Atlanta is a host city, and the Courthouse is situated four blocks from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where eight of the World Cup matches will be held.
The Fulton County Justice Center Complex will be impacted by the upcoming World Cup events from June 11 – July 15, 2026. The Courts will be open during regular business hours during the events, but some services may have limited hours and may have virtual options or requirements.
Downtown Atlanta will experience heavy traffic, especially on game days. The I-75/85 Downtown Connector will likely have heavy traffic on all event days. Road closures and rerouted lanes are expected during games, affecting access to the Justice Center Complex.
The Atlanta matches are expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the downtown area and near the Courthouse. Expect a high volume of pedestrians in the downtown Atlanta area during this time, and especially on game days.
The Court is committed to maintaining sufficient capacity to handle urgent matters, emergency hearings, and scheduled jury trials. Court leadership will be monitoring the World Cup events as they progress and will promptly make information on operational adjustments available to the public on the website and through social media.
