Justice Resource Center Provides Access to Free Legal Help

The 2025 numbers are in and Fulton County’s Justice Resource Center (JRC), along with its community partners, helped nearly 16,000 people represent themselves in civil legal matters.

“We recognize pro se representation in tough legal issues, especially matters of family law, can be a daunting task,” according to JRC leaders. “Our staff is committed to working with our partners to assist anyone who walks through our doors.”

The JRC partners with community organizations, including Atlanta Legal Aid, Fathers Incorporated, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, among others. These partnerships allow people to access:

•    Free family law attorney consultations in matters such as divorce, child custody/visitation, and child legitimation.
•    Free monthly family law clinics covering topics such as divorce, name changes, paternity, domestic abuse, and adoption.
•    Free attorney consultations through the Senior Legal Services Program for people age 60 or older and their caregivers on matters such as health, probate, estate planning, consumer disputes, debt collection, and nursing home resident rights.
•    Free Housing Court Assistance Center through the Office of the Magistrate Clerk that provides a legal clinic helping tenants understand their rights under Georgia law.

People visiting the JRC can also access an extensive law library, interpreter services, notary and copy services, and print important forms and downloadable packets.

The office is located on the seventh floor of the Fulton County Courthouse in the Justice Center Tower (J1). It is open to the public Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
